ScotRail staff have launched an appeal to track down the owner of a kitten left on board one of its services.

The "frightened" cat was found in a carrier on the 08:25 Thursday train between Helensburgh Central and Edinburgh Waverley.

The kitten, a female, thought to be about six months old, was taken to Dalmuir station by staff.

She has since been placed into foster care by Cats Protection charity in Glasgow, who said she has temporarily been called Annie, after the orphan in the musical of the same name.

Annie has settled with foster carers and has revealed a playful side

Cats Protection Glasgow branch co-ordinator, Elaine Brennan, said: "Thankfully, we have been able to quickly place the kitten in the care of one of our dedicated fosterers.

"Although initially scared, she has quickly revealed her playful nature and hasn't let the ordeal phase her.

"We are hoping her owner gets in touch, however, it sadly looks like she may have been abandoned."

Little Annie has a striped coat with shades of brown, black, and grey through her coat, and white sock markings. She was found in a blue and grey cat carrier.

Anyone with information about the kitten should contact the Cats Protection charity.
