Self-build development to have 20mph speed limit
GHVDCA 20mph speed limit will be introduced throughout the UK's biggest self-build housing development.
Work began at Graven Hill, near Bicester, Oxfordshire, in 2016 and the site will contain more than 2,000 homes when finished.
Andrew Gant, Oxfordshire County Council's transport management lead, approved a number of measures, including the 20mph speed limit and new parking restrictions.
The authority said the proposals would improve road safety, prevent unsafe parking and help people visiting facilities at the development, which has been featured on Channel 4's Grand Designs.
Many of the homes on the site, formerly owned by the Ministry of Defence, are custom-builds.
So far, 745 homes, a primary school, local centre, play areas and green spaces have already been constructed or have planning permission.
The roads will be adopted by the county council in the next 18 months.
The new parking measures include double yellow lines in Anniversary Avenue West, Chadwick Place, Circular Road East, Circular Road West, Graven Hill Road, Read Place, Roberts Drive, Westacott Road and Wood Crescent.
Twenty two-hour diagonal parking bays will also be added to Graven Hill Road, including designated disabled spaces.
