A new Burger King restaurant and drive-thru is to be built in Surrey.

The fast-food outlet wants to open the restaurant in London Road, Camberley, having been granted planning permission for the project in 2023. The site has remained unbuilt since.

The latest application has been submitted to Surrey Heath Borough Council, with Burger King filing plans to display an 8m sign, as well as menus, speaker systems and traffic management signs at the site.

It is proposed that the outlet would be open seven days a week between 10:00 GMT and midnight.

The 2023 application runs until 2026 and allows Burger King to demolish all the existing structures on the site and build a new restaurant and takeaway service complete with a drive-thru, according to the Local Democracy Reporting Service.

"The new Burger King building is modern in design and includes a glazed front elevation with metal canopy, providing a light and spacious seating area for customers," the planning application said.

The fast-food chain said it understood that litter could be a blight on society, and that it was committed to tackling it.

It said it was their policy that every restaurant should carry out a minimum of one litter pick per day, when team members pick up not just Burger King packaging, but any litter that may have been discarded in the vicinity of the restaurant.
