A huge mural painted at an airport's check-in has been unveiled.

The artwork at Guernsey Airport was designed to inspire locals, welcome visitors and reflect the island's unique spirit, Guernsey Ports said.

The mural has been created by local artists Tiffany Anna and Woodie and includes iconic symbols of Guernsey including a puffin, the Guernsey lily and seaweed.

Woodie said: "It is absolutely huge. The pictures don't do it justice either. It's been an absolute joy to do."

Woodie used spray-paint to create some of the mural

"Like anything, it's had its little hiccups, and ups and downs, but it's been phenomenal," he said.

"I predominantly used spray-paint in the past, acrylics, paint markers and stuff, so this has been something different for me. We've been using wall paint and emulsion.

"Colour-wise, we're very cautious of avoiding stuff like reds, things that you would identify with an airport of like stop, cancelled; you know, literal red flags."

Ms Anna said she felt "very proud and very fortunate to be able to paint such a big piece in such a prominent area".

She has previously designed artwork at Guernsey’s harbour terminal but the 6m (20ft) high mural was a new achievement.

"When I first thought about doing this, it was quite daunting so I'm very lucky to be able to do it with Woodie.

"We wanted to kind of keep it quite bright but also calming at the same time."
