Bonfire prepares to mark its 40th anniversary
Getty ImagesA bonfire and fireworks display is preparing to celebrate its 40th birthday with a blaze described as "bigger and better than ever".
Mark Mitchell, the organiser of Donnington Bonfire in Telford, known affectionately as the 'Donny Bonny', said the event was started by his father and had gradually grown over the years.
He said the entertainment on Saturday would also include fire eaters and stilt walkers, adding there would be street food. Money raised from car parking charges is set to go to Severn Hospice.
"I don't know how we're going to beat this year to be honest, because this is going to be special," he said.
The bonfire takes place on Broadoaks playing fields with gates opening at 16:00 GMT on Saturday and the first fireworks going off at 19:00 GMT.
The bonfire itself, which is known for its size, is due to be lit at 20:00 GMT.
Mr Mitchell said once the event was over he would breath a "big sigh of relief" and then get to work on the next one.
