Police have warned about fake QR codes

Police have urged drivers to be cautious amid reports of fraud in Aberdeen involving fake parking meter payments.

QR codes have been posted on legitimate parking bays at several locations across the city in January and February that send users to a parking payment website.

A small amount of money was taken for the parking - but drivers then found larger sums of money taken from their account later.

Police Scotland said: "Double check the legitimacy of any website before you make any payment. Once fraudsters have your bank details, they can access the account and take large sums of money."
