Care home residents have enjoyed a trip to an ice rink where they got on the ice in their wheelchairs.

Staff at St Joesph's Care Home in Jersey took residents to the temporary ice rink in the Weighbridge as part of its Christmas celebrations.

Charles Henwood, 86, said it was "very nice" and "I've never done it before so it was something different".

Anabela Sequeira, from the care home, said: "It's been beautiful, amazing, and they really enjoyed it."

Charles is in the foreground and is wearing a cream-colored fleece jacket and a dark knitted hat, leaning back in a chair. A mustard-yellow blanket is draped over the table. Behind them, another person in a colorful striped hat is seated, and there are stalls or booths visible in the background.

It was the first time the care home organised the activity.

Mr Henwood said: "I would have liked to have come here a few years back when I could do everything.

"I liked seeing the youngsters here as well because it's ideal for them as they skate around and pass us."

The rink is covered by a large white tent structure with beams and lights overhead. In the background, several people are skating, and there are blue decorative lights shaped like trees.
Anabela Sequeira from the care home said the staff also enjoyed the experience

St Joseph's Care Home is based in St Helier and houses about 100 residents.
