Appeal after man in his 40s dies in A1 collision
Harriet Heywood/BBCPolice have appealed for witnesses after a man died in a crash that closed part of the A1 for several hours.
Emergency services were called to the northbound carriageway near Wyboston, Bedfordshire, at about 07:50 BST on Saturday.
The stretch of the road towards St Neots in Cambridgeshire was shut until about 15:00.
Bedfordshire Police said a man in his 40s was pronounced dead at the scene following the crash, which involved a white lorry, a blue Ford car and a pedestrian.
The force appealed for witnesses and drivers with dashcam footage to come forward.
Sgt Matthew O'Neill from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire road policing unit, said: "This was an incredibly tragic incident, and our thoughts remain with the loved ones of the man who sadly lost his life."
