Man fighting for life after 'industrial incident'
BBCA man is in a critical condition in hospital after an industrial incident at the Port of Liverpool on Merseyside, police confirmed.
Emergency services were called to a warehouse on Rimrose Road, Bootle at around midday on Wednesday.
The man suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to hospital.
A Merseyside Police spokesman said a joint investigation with the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) into what happened "is in the very early stages" and HSE inspectors visited the site on Thursday morning.
A spokesperson for the Port of Liverpool said:
"We are aware of a serious incident at a third-party operated warehouse at the Port of Liverpool.
"Emergency services were called to the site and operations at the affected location have been suspended until further notice.
"Investigations will be conducted by the relevant authorities and the third-party operator, with our full support."
