Woman in her 90s dies in central reservation crash
Lancashire PoliceA woman aged in her 90s has died after the car she was driving left the road and smashed into a planter on a central reservation and then a lamppost.
The silver Volkswagen Polo had come off Marine Road East in Morecambe at the junction with Princes Crescent at 16:30 GMT on Friday, Lancashire Police said.
The driver was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries and died earlier, the force said.
Police are appealing for witnesses and footage of the incident.
Det Sgt Stuart Hart said: "A woman has very sadly died following this collision and our thoughts remain with her and her loved ones at this time.
"We are in the early stages of our investigation and I am appealing... for your assistance.
"If you have dashcam, doorbell or CCTV footage of the collision, please do get in touch with us."
