Dad who died after incident outside Wetherspoon's pub was 'one of a kind'
Gwent PoliceA father who died following an incident outside a Wetherspoon's pub has been described by his family as "one of a kind, with the kindest of hearts".
Marcus Lee Carpenter, 37, suffered life-threatening injuries at The Picture House in Ebbw Vale, Blaenau Gwent, and was pronounced dead in hospital.
Gwent Police said it was called to reports of an assault at the pub in Bethcar Street between 23:30 GMT on 20 February and 00:15 the following morning.
A 30-year-old man from Cardiff appeared before Newport Magistrates' Court on Thursday charged with manslaughter and remains in custody.
Paying tribute, Carpenter's family said he was a "beloved son, partner and dad".
"Marcus was one-of-a-kind with the kindest of hearts who would help anyone out he could," they added.
"His passing has left a massive hole in the lives of everyone close to him."
The family asked for privacy and "time to grieve at this heartbreaking time".
