Easter tram disruption - what to expect and where

Tram services will be disrupted in Greater Manchester over the upcoming Easter bank holiday weekend due to tram improvement works.

The planned works will take place at Deansgate-Castlefield and Trafford Bar from Friday, 3 April to Monday, 6 April, Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) said. Track renewal works will also take place between Timperley and Stretford during these dates.

No trams will operate on the Eccles, Trafford Centre and Altrincham lines. Services on the following lines will also be affected: East Didsbury, Manchester Airport, Rochdale, Bury to Ashton-under-Lyne, and Bury/Victoria - Etihad Campus.

Replacement buses will be in operation across the routes, TfGM has said.

Affected routes

According to TfGM, the following changes will be in place across the network:

  • No trams will operate on the Eccles, Trafford Centre and Altrincham lines
  • Services operating on the East Didsbury/Manchester Airport lines will terminate at Firswood
  • Services operating on the Rochdale line will terminate at Exchange Square
  • Other tram service changes include: Bury-Ashton-under-Lyne, Bury/Victoria-Etihad Campus.

Tickets valid for affected tram zones will also be valid on the tram replacement buses.

Normal service would resume across the tram network on Tuesday, 7 April, TfGM said.
