Emergency services are investigating an incident that has led to tram services being suspended

Tram services have been suspended and a busy road has been closed both ways as police investigate an incident in Greater Manchester.

Metrolink tram services operating between Bury and Whitefield have been suspended following a police incident in Radcliffe, Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) said.

Church Street West in Radcliffe is also closed off in both directions - and is shut from Deansgate to Rectory Lane as emergency services attend the scene.

This comes as police continue to investigate a concern for welfare on nearby East Street, which was reported at about 01:00 BST.

Ian Davies, network director for Metrolink, said: "We are currently supporting Greater Manchester Police who are responding to a concern for a person's welfare in Radcliffe.

"Due to the police incident, there are no services in operation between Bury and Whitefield."
