GSPCA manager, Steve Byrne, said seeing the walls of the new hospital being built was "incredibly exciting"

An animal charity has raised almost half of its £3.7m target for a new wildlife hospital.

GSCPA said the walls of the new hospital were being constructed as part of the Biggest Build Appeal, which has now raised more than £1.8m.

It said there was still lots of work to do, including installing solar panels, which are estimated to cost £65,000 per building and upgrading the IT system, which would cost £12,000.

The charity said it was looking for people to support the campaign by making a donation, buying a brick or sponsoring a room.

Steve Byrne, GSPCA manager, said: "Seeing the walls of the wildlife hospital rise is incredibly exciting, but we still need your help to finish the job.

"From bricks to solar panels, every donation counts."

The charity has launched a new leaflet to inform people about the buy a brick offer and other ways to donate to the Biggest Build Appeal.

It said every contribution would help "build a brighter future for animals in Guernsey".
