A second person has died following a two-car crash in Surrey, police have announced.

The driver of one car, a man in his 20s, died at the scene, according to officers.

A woman in her 30s, who was driving the other vehicle, was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries. She has since died, Surrey Police said on Saturday.

Her family is aware and being supported by officers, the force added.

Four men in their 20s were also seriously injured in the crash, it said.

Surrey Police said two Ford Fiestas - one black, one grey - collided north of the Hindhead Tunnel.

After exiting the tunnel, the black Fiesta crossed the central reservation and hit the grey one, it added.

Officers said they are working to "understand why this happened" and the moments leading up to the crash.

They have appealed for witnesses or anyone with footage to contact them.
