Westmorland and Furness Council suspects the rubbish was collected by someone "offering a professional waste removal service"
The council described the amount of fly-tipped waste as "significant"

A "significant" amount of fly-tipped waste was likely dumped by a tipper wagon, a council has said.

Westmorland and Furness Council officials believe the waste, including plastics items, garden items, aerosols and sideboards, was discarded on Wednesday between 12:00 and 14:00 GMT at Eller Riggs Brow, west of Broughton Beck, Ulverston.

They suspect the rubbish was collected by someone "offering a professional waste removal service and then illegally dumped" using a flatbed tipper wagon, leaving behind a threat to wildlife and the environment and a large clean-up bill.

Anyone with information was urged to come forward.
