Traffic was stopped for two hours after a coach caught fire on the M6 Toll in Warwickshire.

National Highways said the road remained closed southbound between T4 at Weeford and T2 at Coleshill.

Ridleys Coaches confirmed it was one of their vehicles and said: "All passengers and the driver were safely evacuated with no injuries".

The coach had been taking Manchester City fans to Wembley for the Carabao Cup final against Arsenal.

The fire has now been extinguished and a recovery and clear-up operation will take place later, National Highways said.

It added that traffic caught up within the closure had now been able to pass the scene, but have warned drivers for leave extra time for journeys.

The coach company said: "The passengers are all safely on replacement coaches to the stadium.

"We are working with authorities to understand the circumstances and will provide further updates as appropriate."

Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service and Warwickshire Police have been contacted for comment.
