Detective inspector denies nightclub assaults

A senior police officer has pleaded not guilty to assaulting two men and a woman at a nightclub.

Det Insp Mark Portelli, 45, also denied using threatening words or behaviour during the alleged incident at Canvas in Bournemouth on the night of Saturday 30 March.

The detective, who is currently suspended, was off duty at the time, police previously said.

A judge at Southampton Magistrates' Court adjourned the case for a trial on 18 December.
