A track alongside a guided busway used as a pedestrian path and for busway maintenance has been reopened following flooding, Cambridgeshire County Council said.

The section between St Ives Park & Ride and Fen Drayton Lakes was closed on 17 January due to excess water.

A local authority spokesperson said: "Please continue to take care in wet conditions. If the gates are closed at any time, please use an alternative route.

"Buses continue to use the busway when the path is flooded, so please do not walk or cycle along the busway track."

Work is expected to take place this year to address the flooding problem

The council said the section of the pathway between the Park & Ride and Holywell regularly floods during winter, leading to the closure of gates.

It has carried out feasibility work to address the issue and aims to have measures in place by next winter.

"Various solutions are being looked at, including a pontooned walkway," the council said on its website.

"Detailed ecological and design work is needed alongside stakeholder liaison and public engagement before any works."
