New route launched for on-demand bus service
Worcester County CouncilAn on-demand bus service has expanded to a new area of Worcestershire.
The North West Zone launched on Monday, covering the Wyre Forest District, including Stourport, Bewdley, Tenbury Wells and surrounding villages.
The service allows passengers to book journeys through the Worcestershire on-demand app where they can choose their pick-up and drop-off points.
All journeys within the North West, North Central and North Malvern zones will be free until the end of February, Worcestershire County Council said.
The move follows rollouts in Wychavon, Bromsgrove and Malvern where the initiative was designed to connect passengers to their destinations without fixed routes or timetables.
Journeys within Worcestershire on demand zones will be capped at 15 km (9.3 miles).
Councillor Karl Perks said: "This launch is another significant step in improving access to affordable, sustainable and user-friendly transport across Worcestershire. Our on-demand bus services are already proving to be a flexible and reliable option, particularly for people living in rural communities."
