Gran fatally struck by HGV 'lit up every room'
Police handoutA woman who was killed when she was struck by an lorry "had a rare gift for making people feel seen, valued, and deeply cared for", her family have said in a tribute.
Elizabeth 'Liz' Goodall died after being hit by a green HGV at about 10:30 GMT on Walton Lane in Liverpool on Wednesday.
Her relatives said the "beloved wife, mother and nana" was "the centre of our family" and "had a beautiful way of lighting up every room she entered".
A 62-year-old man from Accrington who was held on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving has been released under investigation, Merseyside Police said.
The family said she was "our source of strength, kindness, and unconditional love".
"As a wife, she was a true partner and best friend, offering constant support, patience, and devotion, they added.
"As a mum and nana, she gave endlessly of herself, guiding us with wisdom, compassion, and unwavering encouragement.
"She taught us the value of kindness, resilience, and putting family first.
"Anyone who had the privilege of meeting her was touched by her genuine love and kindness.
"She had a rare gift for making people feel seen, valued, and deeply cared for."
'Legacy of love'
The statement added: "While our hearts are heavy, we are deeply grateful for the time we had with her and for the countless memories that will continue to bring us comfort.
"She leaves behind a legacy of love that will live on in our family and in all those whose lives she touched."
They said the "outpouring of support and prayers" had meant "more to us than words can express".
Det Sgt Kurt Timpson said the investigation was in its early stages and appealed for anyone with information to come forward.
He said he was keen to speak to anyone travelling on Walton Lane, near to Walton Village, at about 10:30 who witnessed what happened or anyone who has CCTV or dashcam footage.
