Arrest after woman struck and killed by HGV
BBCA man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving after a woman was struck and killed by an HGV in Liverpool.
The incident, involving a green lorry, happened at about 10:30 GMT in Walton Lane, Walton.
Emergency services attended but the woman was pronounced dead at the scene, Merseyside Police said.
The force said a 62-year-old man from Accrington in Lancashire was arrested.
Det Sgt Kurt Timpson said: "My thoughts are with the women's family at this awful time and our priority is to get answers for them.
"Although someone has been arrested, this investigation remains in the very early stages and I appeal to anyone with information to come forward and help us establish the full circumstances."
Witnesses and anyone with information or relevant dashcam footage have been urged to contact police.
