Man, 31, dies in New Year's Day crash

A 31-year-old man has died following a crash in West Yorkshire in the early hours of New Year's Day.

It happened shortly after 02:00 GMT on Ouzelwell Green in Lofthouse, between Leeds and Wakefield.

Police said the crash involved just one vehicle, a black Vauxhall Astra, which overturned close to the road's junction with Cemetery Lane.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene, officers said.

Any witnesses to the crash have been asked to get in touch with West Yorkshire Police.
