Devon and Somerset Fire Service received reports of smoke coming from a garage in the early hours of Tuesday

A man has been taken to hospital following a garage fire at a home in Devon.

Crews from Devon and Somerset Fire Service were called out to reports of smoke coming from the garage in Coombe Road, Paignton, at about 01:25 GMT on Tuesday.

Devon and Cornwall Police said a man was rescued from the building before he was taken to Torbay Hospital, where he was being treated for smoke inhalation.

A fire service spokesperson said the garage was damaged and the blaze was believed to have been started deliberately.
