A loo with a view over Mount's Bay in Cornwall has sold for £169,000.

A total of 109 bids were received for the former toilet block which had a guide price of £20,000.

The public convenience, which overlooks St Michael's Mount, was sold for Cornwall Council by auctioneers.

Katie Semmens, of Clive Emson Land and Property Auctioneers, said it was an "extraordinary outcome".

The new owner "must be flush for cash", she added.

It is on a 0.12 acre lot at Long Rock near Penzance.

"There are not many places, let alone toilets, with better views than this," said Ms Semmens.

"Overlooking St Michael's Mount, it's all about the location."
