Former teacher in court over child sexual offences

A former teacher has appeared in court in connection with sexual offences against children dating back decades.

Police said Paul Stainsby, 75 and formerly of Dunmow, Essex, taught at Warwick School in the 1980s, where the offences are alleged to have happened.

He has been charged with eight counts of indecent assault on a boy under 16, one count of indecent assault on a male age 16 or over, and one count of inciting a boy under 14 to commit a gross act of indecency.

The defendant appeared at Leamington Magistrates' Court on 23 January and has been remanded in custody ahead of a plea hearing at Warwick Crown Court on 20 February.

Warwickshire Police said the charges related to five different individuals.
