Historic buildings awarded grant funding
Warwick District CouncilA project to restore two historic buildings dating back to the 15th Century at a former leper hospital has received additional funding.
St Michael's Place, in Salitsford, Warwick, has received a "significant boost" with the award from the Architectural Heritage Fund, as one of 10 new Capital Grants through its Heritage Revival Fund.
The funding would help West Midlands Historic Buildings Trust implement plans to repair and refurbish the Master's House and St Michael's Chapel, Warwick District Council said.
The Heritage Lottery Funded project will see the Grade II* listed buildings, which have been derelict for 50 years, redeveloped for residential use.
Jessica Melrose, portfolio holder for housing at Warwick District Council, said the funding was "wonderful news".
"We are delighted that this additional support from the Architectural Heritage Fund, will help us to realise our ambition of rescuing these important buildings and offer them a sustainable future, whilst also preserving the legacy of the site for future generations," she added.
