A free event to help connect people to local mental health support services is being held in Coventry.

Hosted by the Reach Mental Health Alliance as part of Mental Health Awareness Week, members of the public will be able to find out about 730 social groups that operate across the city.

Community group Good Neighbours Coventry will be among those holding information stalls at Coventry Transport Museum on Tuesday.

Jess Day-Pollard, from the volunteer-led project, said they were hoping to find matches for 40 users battling loneliness.

"We know that loneliness affects people of all ages," Day-Pollard said.

"Having a good social life and making social connections can be a little bit scary.

"It's definitely worthwhile in order to feel better and this 730 plus social groups that have been mapped across the city can really help with that."

Good Neighbours Coventry helps adults aged over 50 to make social connections.

"We help connect people who are like-minded and share hobbies and we try to match people for conversations to improve everyone's wellbeing," she added.

Local services such as Talking Therapies, Inini, CGL, and Mind are among those holding information stalls at the event which is offering support for health and wellbeing.

The event is taking place between 10:30 and 14:30 BST.
