A second boy has been arrested after a council says it had to close its office following flooding.

The arrest followed reports of criminal damage after people in the public gallery disrupted a Swale Borough Council debate on 10 December about making the area a "district of sanctuary" for refugees.

The council said it had been unable to open its office in East Street, Sittingbourne, the following day as toilets and a lift had been damaged by flooding in several areas.

The 14-year-old boy from Sittingbourne was arrested on suspicion of criminal damage and released on conditional bail pending further investigation, Kent Police said.

Another boy, from Sittingbourne, was arrested on 16 December.
