Mum-of-four dies in car and van crash

A mother-of-four has died following a crash between a car and a van.

Donna Ball, 48, died in hospital on 30 December after being injured in the incident on the A4119 bypass at Williamstown, Tonypandy, Rhondda Cynon Taf.

The crash happened shortly before 11:25 GMT on 29 December with five people taken to hospital, including Ms Ball, who was driving the car, along with her daughter.

The driver of the van, a 19-year-old man from Newport, who was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and two counts of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, has been bailed until 30 March.

Ms Ball's husband said her death "left a huge void that can never be filled".

He added: "We as a family are devastated by the sudden, tragic and needless death of our beloved Donna.

"Our old lives have ended, our lives without her begin now.

"We are overwhelmed by the messages of love and condolence we have received. We take great solace in the high regard in which she was held by so many. Rest easy, my love, until I see you again."

Mr Ball thanked the emergency services and the staff and doctors of Owl Ward and Noah's Ark Children's Hospital for Wales for the care of his daughter.
