Former social club destroyed by fire
GoogleA former social club has been destroyed by a fire.
The blaze broke out at the Redhouse Working Men's Club on Rawmarsh Road in Sunderland at about 01:30 BST.
The Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service was called and dispatched six appliances to the scene.
Firefighters tackled flames and smoke for nearly 10 hours. No injuries have been reported.
A spokesperson said: "An aerial ladder platform was used as a water tower, and crews wore breathing apparatus and used hose reels to tackle the fire.
"Crews left the scene at around 11:00 and no casualties have been reported at this time."
