Murder investigation launched after man dies in Pencoed

A murder investigation has been launched after a 58-year-old man died following an incident in Bridgend county, police have said.

Emergency services were called to Felindre Road, Pencoed, in the early hours of Saturday 28 February.

A man was taken to hospital in critical condition and has since died.

A 26-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and remains in custody. Officers are appealing for two witnesses understood to have been walking along Felindre Road between midnight and 05:00 GMT on Saturday to contact them.

South Wales Police said the investigation was being treated as murder, with the Major Crime Investigations team leading inquiries.

The victim's family is being supported by specially trained officers.

Det Insp Graham Williams said: "I would like to reassure the local community that we have somebody in custody and are not looking for anyone else at this time."
