Electricity has been restored to about 5,000 homes in Peterborough following a power cut caused by an underground cable fault.

Engineers were called out just before 06:00 GMT when supplies were cut across five postcode areas, including around Helpston and Marholm.

All the affected properties were reconnected shortly after 10:00 GMT.

UK Power Networks said the outage was not linked to Storm Goretti.
