Family appeal to missing man not seen for nearly three weeks

The family of an Ayrshire man last seen almost three weeks ago have appealed for him to return home.

Jason Anderson, 33, was last seen at about 18:00 on 12 December,in Catrine. He was reported missing on 18 December.

His brother Frankie said the family wanted nothing more than the safe return of Mr Anderson.

Police have been reviewing CCTV footage and carrying out door-to-door inquiries in the local area since he disappeared, while searches have involved a police helicopter, drones, mountain rescue teams and officers on quad bikes.

The force said Mr Anderson's disappearance was out of character.

He is described as about 5ft 7in tall, medium build and having short, fair hair.

In a statement released through Police Scotland, Frankie Anderson said: "We want nothing more than the safe return of Jason.

"It's been an extremely difficult couple of weeks, wondering where Jason is and hoping he is ok.

"Please, if anyone has any information at all that could help bring my brother home, contact the police.

"Jason, if you see this message, please get in contact as we just want to know you are safe."

Ch Insp Stuart Dougan said: "Jason has now been missing for a significant amount of time and is it out of character for him not to be in contact with family or friends, especially over the festive period.

"I'd urge anyone who may have seen Jason, or a man matching his description, to report any sightings to us.

Anyone with any information about his whereabouts should contact police immediately.
