More than 130 trees planted for future generations
Cheltenham Borough CouncilMore than 130 new trees have been planted across a town to enhance its natural landscape.
The trees have been planted in various locations throughout Cheltenham including Promenade, Prestbury and St Paul's.
The trees, supplied by Gloucestershire County Council, are being introduced to enchance highway verges as well as parks, public gardens, and other open spaces.
Cheltenham Borough councillor Paul Baker said: "In the same way that we are benefitting from tree planting many years ago future generations will benefit from our tree planting today."
The Cheltenham Borough Council Tree Strategy prioritises areas with sparse canopy cover, ensuring these parts of the town receive greenery.
However, key locations such as Pittville Park are also included to maintain the continuity of tree planting.
Senior Trees Officer Chris Chavasse, said: "Planting new trees in Cheltenham enhances our community by improving air quality, supporting biodiversity, and contributing to climate resilience.
"These trees will be a legacy for future generations, offering beauty and natural habitats for local wildlife," he said.
