A 17-year-old cyclist has suffered life-threatening injuries after being involved in a collision with a car in Rotherham.

Emergency services were called to reports of a crash between the cyclist and a grey VW Golf on Centenary Way just after 18:00 GMT on Thursday, according to police.

The boy was taken to hospital where he remained in a critical condition, and the driver, a 26-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and other traffic offences, South Yorkshire Police said.

Officers asked anyone who witnessed the incident, or who had dashcam footage, to get in touch.
