Trio in court on manslaughter charge after crash

Three men have appeared in court after being charged with manslaughter following the death of a 20-year-old man in a crash in Rotherham.

South Yorkshire Police were called to reports of a crash involving a silver Land Rover Discovery and a silver Subaru Forester on Morthen Road in Wickersley on 2 June 2024.

Mackenzie Ball, who was a passenger in the Land Rover, died at the scene.

Kowen Pitts, 21, Adam Platts, 20, and Deacon Blake, 18, all of Sheffield, appeared before Sheffield magistrates earlier.

Pitts, of Jaunty Avenue, Sheffield, and Platts, of Newbould Crescent, Sheffield, are both charged with manslaughter.

Blake, of Jaunty Avenue, is charged with manslaughter and grievous bodily harm.

No pleas were entered and the three are set to appear at Sheffield Crown Court on 7 April.

Owen Cocksedge,19, is charged with manslaughter and causing death by dangerous driving. He also faces a number of other charges

He is due to appear at Sheffield Magistrates' Court on 10 March.
