People in Guernsey are being asked how often they read as part of a campaign

Research is being conducted into how often people in Guernsey read books as part of a campaign.

The National Year of Reading - led by the UK government and the National Literacy Trust - wants to encourage people to read more in 2026, with local research set to help "inform the planning of local activity throughout the year".

The Guille-Allès library has launched surveys in partnership with the Guernsey literary festival Bright Beginnings, Guernsey Arts and the States of Guernsey to learn about reading habits.

Islanders have been asked to fill out the first survey before 8 January to help understand how adults in Guernsey "read and engage with books", the States said.
