Sailor dies after injury onboard yacht off island
Island EchoA sailor who suffered an injury while onboard a yacht off the Isle of Wight has died.
The man, aged in his 70s, was sailing in the Solent on a New Zealand-registered pleasure yacht.
Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary said inquiries were ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding his death.
The Marine Accident Investigation Branch said it had sent a team to the island to conduct a preliminary assessment.
