Music collective opens up scheme for young artists
Dumfries Music CollectiveAn organisation that helps young musicians in southern Scotland has reopened a scheme aimed at encouraging the stars of the future.
Dumfries Music Collective is an arts charity and its Futures programme gives opportunities in music, art and performance.
The fully-funded mentorship pairs emerging creatives with leading industry professionals, providing 12 hours of one-to-one guidance.
Mentors share their advice on their industries, to help participants take the next steps in their careers.
Alx RomanceOne former participant, Alexander Romance, said: "Through DMC Futures Mentorship programme I was connected to BBC Introducing Scotland winner Bemz, which has proven to be invaluable.
"I showcased at DMC Annual Conference in 2022 in one of my first live performances."
Alexander said that moment boosted his confidence as a live performer.
"I was then booked to play the main stage at YouthBeatz 2023," he added.
"Lastly, in October 2023 in collaboration with DMC I ran my own DIY night in Dumfries, 'F!N!TE!', which was a great success."

Joseph Cursare is another to have been part of the programme in the past.
He was only 15 when DMC helped him embark on his first tour in southern Scotland.
Now, he has gone on to release EPs including The Dinner Date, and has signed a recording deal.
DMC aims to help more young people in 2026 with six mentorship spots available, running from January next year.
Applicants aged between 16 and 25 from all creative disciplines are encouraged to apply with a deadline on 5 December.
