Man taunted at home then beaten unconscious by gang
Lancashire ConstabularyA man in his late 60s suffered a broken nose after a gang of young people taunted and then beat him unconscious with sticks and a piece of wood in an "unprovoked act".
He was disturbed by banging at his door on Shakespeare Road, Lancaster, on Sunday at 18:00 GMT - and saw the group laughing at him and standing by his car, Lancashire Police said.
The man went outside to follow them before he was attacked on Barley Cop Lane by the group, who were wielding sticks and a piece of wood. He was knocked unconscious and suffered a broken nose, broken hand, a missing tooth and cuts.
Det Insp Ian Zanelli said an investigation was under way and officers were making efforts to identify the attackers.
"This assault was completely unprovoked and has left an elderly man with some serious injuries," he said.
"I would appeal to anyone who has any information to come forward."
