Man taken to hospital after canal search

A man has been taken to hospital after emergency services were called to a canal in Manchester city centre.

Greater Manchester Police said the force received reports of a man in the water off Ducie Street shortly after 09:00 GMT.

A man in his 50s was taken to hospital although his condition has not been detailed.

The force said officers were working to find out how he ended up in the water.
