Music teacher banned over sex in classroom
Getty ImagesA music teacher has been barred from the profession after a panel found he engaged in sexual activity in a classroom.
The Teaching Regulation Agency heard Louis Davies, who taught at Sturminster Newton High School in Dorset, allowed a woman to perform a sex act on him on school premises in September 2024.
His actions were judged to amount to unacceptable professional conduct and to bring the profession into disrepute.
The 39-year-old has been prohibited from teaching indefinitely, with no right to review the decision.
The panel heard Davies, who had joined the school less than two weeks earlier, kissed the woman and played with her underwear in the classroom.
It said the behaviour took place while pupils were on site and that the classroom was in a central corridor, creating a risk it could have been witnessed.
He also exchanged sexualised messages with the woman outside school hours.
The panel also found Davies failed to act on a safeguarding concern after the woman told him she had previously had sex with a teacher at another school.
His conduct was found to demonstrate a serious lack of professional judgement, a failure to maintain appropriate boundaries and a disregard for safeguarding requirements.
Its decision stated his conduct was "wholly inconsistent with the standards of integrity and professionalism expected of a teacher."
The panel said a lifetime ban was deemed necessary to protect pupils and maintain public confidence in the profession.
