Police officer charged with off-duty sexual assault

A serving West Yorkshire Police officer has been charged with sexual assault, the force said.

PC Jody Shelley, 39, who is based in Wakefield, is accused of assaulting a female over the age of 16 while off duty.

The force said he is due to appear at Sheffield Magistrates' Court on Monday.

Shelley has been suspended from duty, West Yorkshire Police added.
