A man died after the crash near the junction of Redbrook Road and Beever Lane

A man has died after the van he was driving crashed off the road in Barnsley.

The VW Transporter had been travelling along Redbrook Road, towards Barugh Green, when it came off the road near to the junction with Beever Lane at about 11:00 GMT on Sunday, South Yorkshire Police said.

The force said the 39-year-old driver was pronounced dead at the scene, with the road closed until about 07:00 on Monday.

Anyone who witnessed the crash or who has footage of what happened is asked to contact police.
