Arrest after hit and run which killed woman, 81

A 69-year-old man has been arrested after an elderly woman died following a hit and run in Liverpool, police have said.

Margaret Perry, 81, was walking from a shop when she was hit by a dark car on Longmoor Lane in Fazakerley on Friday at 16:15 GMT.

She suffered serious injuries and died in hospital, Merseyside Police said.

The man from Fazakerley has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and failing to stop.

Merseyside Police said it was continuing to appeal for anyone with information to come forward.
