Air and sea search after cries for help heard
RNLIA search operation was launched after cries for help were heard coming from a beach as the tide was coming in.
A police helicopter and lifeboat crew were launched after the distress calls were heard on Leasowe beach in Wirral at about 19:18 GMT on Friday.
The Hoylake RNLI crew used their night vision equipment and also launched a white parachute flare to illuminate the area, however no casualties could be seen.
"No casualties [were] located after extensive efforts", Hoylake RNLI said, adding that no further distress calls were heard and that, after an extensive search, the crews were stood down.
