Train services resume after flooding at station
Greater AngliaTrain services have resumed following flooding at a railway station.
Rye House near Hoddesdon in Hertfordshire was closed after flooding caused by a burst sewer pipe on 17 December.
Earlier, Greater Anglia said the service between Broxbourne and Hertford East was running again and the station had reopened. It follows a clean-up and sanitisation work at the affected track and station areas by Thames Water.
Martin Beable, managing director for Greater Anglia, apologised for the disruption caused and thanked customers for their "patience".
Network RailThames Water teams installed pumps and pipes to get control of the flooding and stop the flow into the surrounding areas.
The company said it completed the clean-up on Tuesday night and a small number of tankers would remain in the area over the Christmas period as a precaution.
Network Rail, Greater Anglia and Thames Water say they will continue to monitor the area closely.
Greater Anglia said that services may still be subject to last-minute changes and advised passengers to check its website before travelling.
