A group of three or four men with a machete took cash and vapes from a shop in Rubery

Masked robbers armed with a machete targeted a convenience shop, making off with cash and vapes, according to police.

The attack happened at about 04:00 GMT on Thursday at the Rubery Express store on New Road, Rubery.

West Mercia Police said witnesses described seeing "three or four men of Asian appearance" enter the shop and demand cash and vapes.

The men were all wearing balaclavas, one was in a light grey hoodie with grey bottoms and boots, another had a black raincoat, camo trousers and a third wore a very light grey top with black bottoms, trainers and had a bag.

After taking a small amount of cash, vapes and the till with them, the men fled on foot.

Police said CCTV footage trawls were being carried out, and members of the public could expect to see an increased police presence in the area.

Det Insp Dave Knight said: "We are urging anyone with information about this robbery to come forward and speak to us.

"We have some CCTV and are working with our colleagues at West Midlands Police on this investigation but would like to hear from any eyewitnesses or anyone with more CCTV images or dashcam footage too."
