An Aberdeen care home is set to close due to issues including a reduced demand and financial pressures.

Balnagask House, which is run by arms-length organisation Bon Accord Care, currently has 11 residents who will be moved to new homes.

Aberdeen City Health and Social Care Partnership (ACHSCP) said staff would also be supported with moves to different roles within the organisation.

The closure will save £300,000 on renovations, as well as its running costs.

An ACHSCP spokesman said: "This decision takes into account a range of factors, including the declining demand for residential care, changing complexity of need, the condition of the building, financial sustainability pressures and ongoing regulatory requirements.

"We will work closely with residents, families and staff throughout the transition period, and safeguarding the wellbeing of residents will remain at the centre of every step taken."

They added: "Bon Accord Care are committed to supporting staff through a managed remobilisation process, helping individuals move into appropriate roles within the wider organisation."

Balnagask House has room for 30 beds but this was reduced to 20 in 2024 due to budget concerns.

A review followed last year looking into what services it offers and how they measure up against the needs of city residents, as well as the cost of provision.
